HARMONY OF SIMPLE FORMS
The clients wanted a house that would have everything they needed and nothing they didn't, so that neither the facades nor the interiors would require renovation every five years. The furnishings and finishes were not overdone (let alone kitsch or pretentious), but rather high-quality materials and trusted manufacturers. The architectural design itself wasn't strictly tied to any particular style, but at the same time, it would be stylish in its own right. We quickly came to the consensus that, given the climate, site configuration, topography, surroundings, and other factors, it should be in the spirit of a modern interpretation of traditional Northern European architecture. A gable roof, plenty of glass, no plinth or steps at the main entrance, no roof overhangs or downspouts in the traditional sense, durable finishes, a highly efficient yet engaging layout that wisely utilizes every square meter of the house.
